The American Chestnut Foundation

The TACF's goal is to develop a blight-resistant American chestnut tree
via scientific research and breeding, and restore the tree to its
native forests along the eastern United States. The loss of these trees
is considered by some measures to be among the greatest environmental
disasters to befall the Western Hemisphere since the last Ice Age.
The Green Mountain Club is commited to preserving and protecting the
Long Trail System for future generations. Built by the Green Mountain Club
between 1910 and 1930, the Long Trail is the oldest long-distance trail in the
United States. The Long Trail follows the main ridge of the Green
Mountains from the Massachusetts-Vermont line to the Canadian border as
it crosses Vermont's highest peaks.

VIRGINIA
The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley interprets
the art, history, and culture of the great valley for which it is
named. This regional museum complex in Winchester, Virginia, includes a
historic house dating to the eighteenth century, six acres of
spectacular gardens, and, opened in the spring of 2005, a new museum
designed by internationally recognized architect Michael Graves.
The Commonwealth of Virginia
is blessed with an “uncommon-wealth” of natural wonders,
among the most diverse in the country. At the Virginia Living Museum,
this natural heritage comes alive. The museum’s living exhibits
bring visitors in contact with more habitats, wildlife and plant
species than would be encountered in a lifetime of outdoor adventures
in Virginia. The exhibits literally go from the upland coves of the
Appalachian Mountains to the salty offshore waters of the Atlantic
Ocean.
The Arlington Free Clinic
is a nonprofit, community based, volunteer driven organization
committed to providing access to quality health care services to
low-income, uninsured county residents.

WASHINGTON
Discovery Institute's
mission is to make a positive vision of the future practical. The
Institute discovers and promotes ideas in the common sense tradition of
representative government, the free market and individual liberty. Our
mission is promoted through books, reports, legislative testimony,
articles, public conferences and debates, plus media coverage and the
Institute's own publications and Internet website.
Current projects explore the fields of technology, science and culture,
reform of the law, national defense, the environment and the economy,
the future of democratic institutions, transportation, religion and
public life, government entitlement spending, foreign affairs and
cooperation within the bi-national region of "Cascadia."
Seattle Biomedical Research Institute advances
global health. Their infectious disease research is the
foundation for new drugs, vaccines and diagnostics that benefit those
who need their help most: the 14 million who will otherwise die
each year from infectious diseases. Founded in 1976, SBRI has more than
200 staff members working in research labs in Seattle and field labs in
Tanzania.
Northwest Harvest
is Washington's own, and only, statewide hunger relief agency. They
supply food free, without dues or fees of any kind, to a network of
nearly 300 independent food banks and meal programs throughout the
state.
