ACCION increases access to business credit, makes loans, and provides training which enable emerging entrepreneurs to realize their dreams and be catalysts for positive economic and social change.

Forest Guardians has emerged as a results-driven group with a proven record of defending and preserving threatened southwestern wildlife and ecosystems. Bioneers
is a nonprofit organization that promotes practical environmental solutions and innovative social strategies for restoring the Earth and communities.

"It's All Alive, It's All Intelligent, It's All Connected."

Bioneers offers pragmatic solutions that honor the living web of the natural world as the most fertile source of inspiration and models. It's all alive.

One of the beauties of biology is that its facts can become our metaphors, and these underlying codes serve as inspiring parables for how we can organize a more just, humane and authentically sustainable society. It's all intelligent.

Interdependence also teaches us that there are no single issues because it's one whole that can be addressed only by bringing together all the parts. Bioneers gathers people at the crossroads of ecological restoration, human health and social justice. It's all connected.

The bioneers span all fields, cultures, ages and walks of life. The work ranges from science to spirit - local to global - academia to the grass roots - farm to city - business to public service - art to engineering. We celebrate the gift of life in all its diversity and mystery, conjuring a change of heart to renew our empathic connection with the web of life and the Earth, our home. It's all relatives.

DOROT's mission is to enhance the lives of Jewish and other elderly in the Greater New York City Metropolitan area through a dynamic partnership of volunteers, professionals, and elders; to foster mutually beneficial interaction between the generations; and to provide education, guidance and leadership in developing volunteer-based programs for the elderly nationally and internationally.

DOROT’s Programs

    * Address basic needs of the elderly, such as food and housing, health and wellness services, and life management skills
    * Provide social, cultural, religious, arts and educational activities to alleviate isolation and to bring the generations together
    * Promote an ethic of volunteerism
    * Foster respect for human dignity among people of all ages in accordance with Jewish values

Aging in America
    * Since 1900, the number of people ages 65 and older has multiplied almost 11 times, from 3.1 million to 33.5 million.
    * In the next 50 years, that figure will increase to 75 million.
    * During the same period, the number of people aged 90 and older will multiply by 12, from four million to 48 million. They will live one-third of their lives in retirement.

Unfortunately for many of the elderly, the added gift of time is more a burden than a blessing. Many live alone. They have outlasted family, friends, and resources. They are contending with increasing frailty and isolation. They have no one to talk to and no one to tend to their everyday needs. If they do not remain involved in society, their only companions are likely to be fear, despair and debilitation.

DOROT provides programs and services for more than 10,000 elders and caregivers every year. The seniors we serve range in age from 59 to 108. Among them:

    * 95% live alone.
    * 90% are women.
    * 75% have difficulty performing daily activities such as dressing, washing, and cooking.
    * 60% cannot leave their homes without assistance.
    * 52% live on less than $10,000 a year.
    * 35% are blind or sight-impaired.
